ACS Chemical Biology
ACS Chemical Biology is a peer-reviewed ISI journal published by the American Chemical Society. The first issue was published in 2006. Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica (ABBS)
Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica (ABBS) is a peer-reviewed ISI journal. It was established in 1958 by the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry. However, since January 2009 all the articles of ABBS are published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry. ABBS journal publishes articles on a monthly basis and covers original research articles, reviews and short communications in the field of biochemistry and biophysics. Since 2004, articles in the ABBS journals are all in the English language. The article publication charge for this journal is £1850-£3000, however, authors from developing countries may avail of a partial or full waiver of the APC. Annual Review of Biochemistry
Annual Review of Biochemistry is a peer-reviewed ISI journal published by a nonprofit scientific publisher, Annual Reviews (Palo Alto, California, USA). This journal covers reviews from molecular biology and biological chemistry and the articles are published annually. Annual Review of Biochemistry was established in 1932. Biological Chemistry
Biological Chemistry (not to be confused with The Journal of Biological Chemistry) is a peer-reviewed ISI journal published monthly by German Scientific journal publisher, Walter De Gruyter. It was first established in 1877 by Walter De Gruyter and covers original research articles from biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, biotechnology, molecular medicine, etc. Articles are published monthly purely in the English language.
Articles available in this journal are of two types, open-access, and subscription-based. There is no article processing charge for the authors wishing to publish articles on biological chemistry, however, in specific journals published by Walter De Gruyter authors are required to pay €1000-€1500. Biochemical Journal
The Biochemical Journal is a UK-based peer-reviewed ISI journal, published by Portland Press. The Biochemical journal was established in 1906 by Portland Press (a publisher owned by Biochemical Society, London, UK) and the articles are published biweekly. The medium of publication is English and articles are indexed by various databases.
Articles published in Biochemical Journal are in open access mode and therefore authors have to pay the article processing charge of £1500 for open-access publication of articles. However, authors from developing countries can have discounts or fully waived article processing charges for the Biochemical journal on open access publication. Authors from low-income countries (HINARI ‘Group A’ list) are waived completely for open access publications while authors from other countries (HINARI ‘Group B’ list) have to pay £1500 as an article processing charge.
Biochemistry Journal
Another Journal published by the American Chemical Society is the Biochemistry Journal. It is a peer-reviewed ISI journal published weekly. It was first established in 1962 and covers various aspects of biochemistry. The article processing charge and the membership discount are the same as those of the ACS Chemical Biology.
Biochemistry and Cell Biology
Biochemistry and Cell Biology is a peer-reviewed ISI journal published bimonthly by a non-profit Canadian scientific publisher, NRC Research Press. NRC Research Press is a publication department of the National Research Council of Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information. This journal covers research articles from biochemistry and cell biology. Biochemistry and Cell biology were initially established in the Canadian Journal of Biochemistry and Physiology in 1964 by NRC Research Press.
Later on, the Canadian Journal of Biochemistry and Physiology was divided into the Canadian Journal of Biochemistry and the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology. In 1983, the Canadian Journal of Biochemistry was renamed as Canadian Journal of Biochemistry and Cell biology which was further renamed Biochemistry and Cell Biology in 1986. Biokhimiya (Moscow)
Biokhimiya (Moscow) is a peer-reviewed Russian ISI journal published by the Russian Academy of Sciences. English translation of the journal is Biochemistry (Moscow) and it was established in 1936 by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (now called as Russian Academy of Sciences) and the Russian Biochemical Society. The journal publishes articles in two languages, Russian and English languages. Russian version of the journal is published by Nauka/Interperiodica while the English version of the journal is published and distributed worldwide by Springer Science plus Business Media
Cell Biochemistry and Function
Cell Biochemistry and Function was established in 1983 by John Wiley & Sons Inc and articles are available in Wiley Online Library. It is a peer-reviewed ISI journal that covers original research articles on the molecular and biochemical mechanisms that control cellular activity. Cell Biochemistry and Function publishes articles in an open-access model and authors are required to pay USD 3000 per article.
ChemBioChem
ChemBioChem is a peer-reviewed ISI journal established in 2000.ChemBioChem is a sister publication of other journals published by Willey-VCH, Weinheim, Germany that covers original articles, reviews, minireviews highlights, concepts, and conference reports from Chemical Biology, Synthetic Biology, and Bio-Nanotechnology. All published articles are available in Wiley Online Library. This journal supports both subscription-based and open-access publication and the article publication charge for this journal is €3500 for review articles and €2500 for original research articles. Critical Reviews in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Critical Reviews in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a journal published bimonthly by a UK-based publisher Taylor and Francis Group. It was established in 1972 as CRC Critical Reviews in Biochemistry and the title was changed to Critical Reviews in Biochemistry in 1980 which was further changed to the current title name in 1989. Critical Reviews in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology covers comprehensive review articles from biochemistry and molecular biology. There is no article processing charge for the subscription-based publication. However, authors are required to pay £1,788 per article for an open-access publication.
Journal of Biochemistry
Journal of Biochemistry (JB) is published by Oxford University Press on the behalf of the Japanese Biochemical Society. It is a peer-reviewed ISI journal that was established in 1922. Articles are published monthly and the publication charge varies from £1000-£2500 (for the Open Access option), however, authors from developing countries can avail of 50 % to fully waive publication charges. Journal of Cellular Biochemistry
Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, a peer-reviewed ISI journal published by Wiley Online Library, covers original research articles from various aspects of biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and epigenetics. It was established in 1972. The original name of this journal was the Journal of Supramolecular structure which was changed to the Journal of Supramolecular Structure and Cellular Biochemistry in 1980.
Later on, in 1981, the title of the journal was finally changed to the Journal of Cellular Biochemistry. This journal supports two ways of publishing articles; subscription-based publication and open-access publication. Authors who want their paper to be available for open access after publication need to pay US$ 3000 as an article processing charge.
Nature Chemical Biology
Nature chemical biology is a monthly published peer-reviewed ISI journal published in a nature publishing group. It was first established in June 2005 and covers original research articles from chemical biology, and combined scientific approaches of chemistry and biology. In addition to the publication of original research articles, Nature chemical biology is a forum to exchange ideas among scientists from the field of chemistry and life sciences. The Journal of Biological Chemistry
The Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC) is a peer-reviewed ISI journal published weekly by a non-profit organization American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). JBC, one of the old journals, was established in 1905, and articles published are made available for open access after 12 months of publication.
